Biography

Emily Kelly is a Graduate Intern with Academic Support and Retention (AS&R) at the University of Iowa. Her internship is with 1stGen@Iowa and First Year Seminars with Angela Lamb. She is also a graduate student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) MA program.

Emily graduated from the University of Iowa in December 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. During her undergraduate career, she served as an On Iowa! Leader, Orientation Leader, a member of STAR (Students to Assist Recruitment), and a student manager at Clinton Street Market in Burge Residence Hall. These experiences led Emily to discover a passion for working with college students and to the field of higher education.

After graduating in 2021, Emily taught in the Iowa City Community School District for 2 years.

She is excited to explore all that the field of HESA has to offer, and while she is undecided about future career choices, she hopes to be an advocate for underrepresented students on college campuses.
