Claire Peters serves as the Academic Support and Retention coordinator for the First Gen Hawks program at the University of Iowa. She helps coordinate many aspects of the program, such as meeting individually with the undergraduate peer mentors, assisting with the First Gen Hawks weekly seminars and meeting with the employers of students in the program. She works to plan events and workshops for the students in the program that help them develop professionally and build community within the program. Before coming to Iowa, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Indiana University and graduated in May 2022. During her undergrad, she worked at the College or Arts and Sciences career center, as a peer mentor at the LGBTQ+ Culture Center and help co-teach intensive freshman seminar classes.
