Eligibility Requirements

  • Received a B+ or higher in ECON:1100 Principles of Microeconomics (if currently completing the course, the LA offer will be contingent on receiving a B+ or higher)

  • UI Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher

 

for-credit Role Requirements
  • Attend pre-semester Learning Assistant Training on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 (in-person)
  • Attend your assigned lectures to facilitate activities (three 50-minute lectures per week). Lectures are currently planned to occur via Zoom with Learning Assistants assisting in various breakout rooms. Options include:

    • MWF 9:30 AM - 10:20 AM, CST via Zoom OR

    • MWF 11:30 AM - 12:20 PM, CST via Zoom OR

    • MWF 1:30 PM - 2:20 PM, CST via Zoom

  • Attend a once-a-week, in-person, 50-minute prep meeting with faculty. Meeting options include:
    • Thursdays 12:30 PM - 1:20 PM, CST OR
    • Thursdays 2:00 PM - 2:50 PM, CST
  • Attend a once-a-month, in-person, 50-minute advanced practicum:  
    • Course occurs Mondays 5:30 PM–6:20 PM, CST on August 21, September 18, October 16, and November 13.
  • Students should anticipate spending 4 to 6 hours a week, plus the monthly course time, on the Returning Learning Assistant role

 

PAID-ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Attend once-a-month, 30-minute individual meetings with your assigned supervisor
  • Students should anticipate spending 4 to 6 hours a week, plus .5 hours a month, on the Returning Learning Assistant role
