Eligibility Requirements
  • One of the following must be met:
    • Received a B or higher in CHEM:1110 Principles of Chemistry I (if currently completing the course, the LA offer will be contingent on receiving a B or higher) OR
    • Received a B or higher in CHEM:1120 Principles of Chemistry II (if currently completing the course, the LA offer will be contingent on receiving a B or higher)
  • UI Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher

 

TIME REQUIREMENTS
  • Attend pre-semester Learning Assistant Training on Friday, January 12, 2024 (in-person)
  • Attend your assigned lectures to facilitate activities (three 50-minute lectures per week.) Lectures are currently planned to occur in-person. Options include:  

    • MWF 8:30 AM - 9:20 AM

    • MWF 10:30 AM - 11:20 AM

  • Attend a once-a-week, in-person, 50-minute prep meeting with faculty. Options include:
    • Mondays 3:30–4:20 PM
    • Wednesdays 2:30–3:20 PM
  • Attend once-a-month, 30-minute individual meetings with your assigned supervisor
  • Returning Learning Assistants should anticipate spending 4 -6 hours a week in this role
