Biography

Margaret serves as an Assistant Director of Learning Assistants in the office of Academic Support and Retention. She has a Master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and International Studies from Centre College (in Danville, Kentucky). In her role in AS&R, Margaret supports and manages the Learning Assistant program to support undergraduate student success.

Prior to joining the AS&R team, Margaret worked in the Center for Inclusive Academic Excellence managing the Advantage Iowa Scholarship and creating authentic space for historically marginalized students. Margaret also has experience in the realms of residence life, student wellness, power-based personal violence prevention, academic advising, and overall academic support.

Margaret is a born and raised Minnesotan who begrudgingly recognizes that she is now an Iowa Transplant. She's also a Kentuckian at heart and will happily wax poetic about Kentucky if you give her the time. Outside of work you will find Margaret scrolling TikTok, attending concerts, crafting, or reading. She welcomes any and all book recommendations, cool musicians, or a new craft to try out!
